DC Comics

DC Comics, founded under the name National Allied Publications in 1934, is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment (which is in turn part of the Time Warner conglomerate), and--along with Marvel Comics--is one of the two largest publishers of comics books in the United States. Its primary focus is superhero comics (Superman, Batman, et al.), but it also publishes a more diverse variety of comics through its imprint, Vertigo.
