erotica

Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines erotica as "literary or artistic works having an erotic [i.e., sexually stimulating] theme or quality." Pornography, on the other hand, contains the sexually stimulating aspect of erotica but lacks the literary or artistic aspect. Although pornography is ultimately defined by its audience (as Justice Stewart said, "I know it when I see it"), the following list strives to include only those works that arguably possess literary or artistic merit. Nonetheless, you, the reader, should exercise caution when choosing what to read. After all, only you know best what you like, and each of us acts as our own best censor.
