Comic book artist Jim Lee created Wildstorm in 1992 as part of the Image Comics partnership between himself and six other popular Marvel Comics illustrators, including Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, and Marc Silvestri. In 1999 Lee sold Wildstorm to DC Comics, who incorporated Wildstorm into the company as an imprint similar to Vertigo, although Wildstorm continues to be editorially independent from DC Comics. Lee remains as Wildstorm's editorial director.
Wildstorm is best known for publishing the titles Gen 13, WildC.A.T.s, Astro City, and Alan Moore's "America's Best Comics" line of books.
