David Mazzucchelli

(1960- )

David Mazzucchelli is an American comic book writer and artist who has worked in the industry since the early 1980s. Some of his earliest work includes illustrating Frank Miller's second run on Daredevil (for Marvel Comics) and Miller's Batman: Year One (for DC Comics) shortly thereafter.

In 1994, in collaboration with writer Paul Karasik, he adapted Paul Auster's novel City of Glass to the comic book medium.

In 2009, Pantheon published Asterios Polyp, Mazzucchelli's first full-length graphic novel.

Mazzucchelli received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, and has subsequently taught comic-related courses there as well as at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
