(1954- )
David Greenberger is an American writer who in 1979 began publishing a zine (or self-published, low print-run pamphlet) called The Duplex Planet, which collects conversations he had with various residents of a nursing home outside Boston, where he worked as an activities director. In 1989 Dan Clowes asked Greenberger if he could adapt some of the material from The Duplex Planet into an issue of Clowes's Eightball. This led to the creation of Duplex Planet Illustrated, in which several artists would reimagine Greenberger's conversations in comic book form. Greenberger continues to self-publish The Duplex Planet today.
